Flower TLC

Here are Some Tips for Caring for Floral Arrangements
Keep flowers in a cool location and away from heat or direct sunlight.
Add water to arrangements made with floral foam, and change water in vase flowers (if possible).

Use of a flower preservative will make your flowers last longer. It is available from most florists. Adding a little 7-Up (the soft drink) to the water will also help in a pinch.

Caring for Garden Roses
Cut stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife and put stems in a deep container of water that is too hot for your hand (about 120 degrees. F). Allow to cool completely, then put the container in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. This will condition the blooms.
Remove any leaves and thorns below the water line when making your vase arrangements.

To revive older flowers, re-cut a half-inch of the stem and put in a container of hot water. Put the container in the refrigerator and allow to cool completely. This will bring added life to your roses.
Display roses in a cool location, out of direct sunlight. Avoid excessive heat or cold.

Caring for Dish Gardens
Moderately bright light, and moist soil is preferred. Protect from direct sun in summer, and place near sunny window in winter.

Water thoroughly when soil is dry, but avoid over watering. Do NOT let plants stand in water.

Fertilize periodically.
